Deborah H. – You are making a difference
I know you probably get stuff like this all the time, but I would like to tell you that your books have meant a lot to me since I first started reading them at 15. I didn’t have a very happy teenage span. From early childhood I had been marked as “the church nerd,” and none of the other kids wanted anything to do with me. Eventually, the characters in books became my friends. Every once in a while, I’d peek out from behind the pages and make friends with someone who was new to the church; and after a long run of being used and abused by one such “friend” I finally found someone that I thought would be my best friend forever. I was wrong about that; she suddenly disappeared from my life without warning when I was 15. Before she went, though, the second to last email she ever sent me said simply “Try these books! The first one is Raising Dragons by Bryan Davis.” I have to confess, when I first looked at the summary, I didn’t think it looked super great; but I was desperate for an escape. Contrary to my first impression, I was grabbed from the very first page, and an hour later, I was begging my mother to take me to the library again the next day. I put holds on all the rest of the books at the same time; and when I had no other responsibilities, my first go-to was your books. That was June of 2008.
Dylan W. – My favorite books
Hello Mr. Davis:
How can I ever thank you enough for sending those fantastic, autographed books and writing that amazing letter to me for my birthday? I can’t! My sister videoed the whole event and has tried to send it to you, but I don’t think she’s managed to get it to you yet. It was priceless. At first when I saw that you autographed the books, I could not believe it. I asked my sisters if they had made a forgery of your signature… But they did not!!! I was speechless!!! What an amazing gift.
As well, thank you for the letter! It was touching how much thought and effort you put into it and I will cherish it forever. It was very encouraging and challenging to me. Honestly, I LOVE your books. I have read book #1 probably eight times. It is my absolute favourite and it’s very special to have my very own set. I don’t have to borrow them from the library anymore! The Dragons In Our Midst books have been very encouraging to me. I have connected with Billy so much through the stories and his character has become somewhat of a role model.
I am sorry that this letter has taken me so long to write. Honestly, it’s taken me a bit to figure out what exactly I would say to the author of my favourite books! A simple thank you seemed insufficient, but that is all I can come up with in the end. You have no idea how much that gift meant to me – what your books mean to me – and how that wonderful set of books will be part of my life for the rest of my days on this earth.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dylan
Robin C. – I loved the adventures
Dear Mr Davis,
A few years ago you visited my school Jim C Bailey Middle School in Pensacola Fl. Because of your visit our library started carring a few of your series; The Dragons in Our Midst, the first book of starlighter , and the first book in oracles of fire. ( they have gotten more since then)
I loved the adventures of bonne and billy, and the first book with sapphira( I haven’t read the rest but I hope to) but must of all I loved their relationship with God, when I saw how bonne wrote to god and how sapphira talked and danced for him, it put an ach and a disire for that relationship.
I believe that god used your stories to reach me because I had made reading my savior, or refuge from the world around me. I lost my mom in 2006 when I was 11, then I lost my dad when I was twelve. me, my sister and little brother had to move In with our aunt and her family. It was hard living with them, I felt isolated and alone; I believed no one cared about me, so reading books became my escape.
The summer after reading the children in our midst, starlighter, and the first book of oracles of fire, I started going to church, and with the help of an amazing youth minister I got saved.
Now I’m living with my pastor and his wife, and i’m hoping to go to Mexico next summer (lord willing) to be a missionary. I just wanted to thank you and tell you to keep writing, because somewhere there is another lost child searching, and maybe your books can lead him home. God bless and have a good thanksgiving, a merry christmas, and a happy new year.
Daniel F. – Sacrificial Love
Dear Mr. Davis,
I have been reading your books for ten years now, and I just wanted to thank you for keeping sacrificial love as one of your key themes throughout each of them. Your writings have really shaped a lot of what I believe today, and even though it isn’t a very fun path, I believe it is the best one. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me to stay Christian and for teaching me to love people correctly. Thank you so much for the work you do.
Adam B. – The story was beautiful
Mr. Davis,
I am sure many have contacted you about your stories since I last did so right before I finished Dragons in Our Midst, therefore I do not expect you to thoroughly recall what I said, this was a while ago, I have grown physically, mentally, and spiritually since then, partially thanks to your stories.
But anyways, I just want to thank you for writing these books; I just finished Oracles of Fire and it touched me equally if not even more so than Dragons in Our Midst. The theme of love and sacrifice that you used to mold the story was beautiful! It taught me the value of service to others and the sacrifice anyone can make to place a positive influence into another’s heart, and that even the worst of people can turn around and be saved, just as Goliath and Naamah did.
Your stories helped me see that God will guide us through situations that seem impossible, such as Bonnie escaping the influence of the candlestone while facing Devin. Goliath and Makaidos showed me that undying, unconditional love sometimes calls for sacrifice. I laughed with Walter, I shed tears for Sapphira Adi, I cheered on the heroes of the story, cringed as they fell, and let out a sigh of relief as they rose again, and I shed tears of joy for all the couples who finally married and those who made their way through heaven’s gate.
Mr. Davis I tried, but I just cannot put into words all I had learned and had been reminded of reading the books God has given you the talent to write, I have already written a novel myself with this email! So, I’ll end with thank you, and I cannot wait to begin reading Children of the Bard and learning the valuable lessons I am sure are contained within!
Thank you for your time,
Adam
Sally C. – Excellent Christian fiction
Hello Bryan,
First let me thank you for writing some excellent Christian fiction for young readers. My son, Isaiah, 12, claims he “doesn’t like to read”. But when he picked up the first of your books, he was enthralled. He has refused to read anything else. And that’s great! In fact, we took a trip to Yellowstone this summer just after he got a new Bryan Davis book to read. My husband and I hid our smiles as we struggled to get him out of the car to see things like “Old Faithful” and the “Grand Canyon of Yellowstone”. And then had to answer questions like “when are we going back to the car?” or “can I bring my book along?” Ummm….. ” we are going to see famous things, you won’t need your book!” And this is a kid who seriously would not pick up a book before unless it was for school.
Thanks again. It is very encouraging to have my son reading, and especially good books like yours. There is just so much garbage out there.

Dear Mr. Davis
Your Books Helped My Daughter Survive
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful books.
My daughter was in the hospital for 82 days from a mysterious illness that became toxic shock that took both her legs and has complicated ongoing medical issues from her illness she had. She was giving out thanksgiving Food boxes on the wednesday before Thanksgiving and then she woke thanksgiving day with flu like symptoms. By that Saturday she was rushed to the hospital and fighting for her life. She was not making it on life Support so they put her on a ecmo machine.
While Tabitha was in the hospital in ICU she was unconscious and stressed out it effected her heart and blood pressure.Thy couldn’t get her calm at all. I bought her favorite books ( dragon in the midst ones) on audio and put it on her kindle and placed the ear piece on her pillow next to her ears and it was amazing she stayed calm so much that the night shift that came in was told by the day icu nurse that to keep her calm play her audio book.
Her blood pressure and heart rate would start going up and the nurses would check to see if the book stopped playing and it was so they would play it over and over and that kept her very calm which helped her through this ordeal.
I tried other books and she wouldn’t settle down at all. So your books helped keep my daughter calm .
My daughter Tabitha k Schulke was in multiple newspapers about her illness and her wonderful miracle that she went through . You can google her name as her story was on the internet a lot. I just want to thank you for making a series that my daughter loved so much.
A Reader Who Needed Your Books
Hi Bryan.
I adore your Dragons in our Midst series! They’re amazing, they have helped me through a lot. I’ve seen really sick for around 10 years now and several times been wanting to give up as there’s no cure for my chronic illness and chronic pain, I’ve been unable to attend church, don’t work or study. It’s been a huge mess, fighting through depression as well as constant pain. Your books and both sapphira and bonnie have helped with keeping strong with my faith in God.
The verse psalms 139 has become my most valued verse and one I keep close to my heart. I thank you for putting your amazing gift from God into these books and sharing them with the world. I know for sure that you and your books have touched many people, whether they’ve been struggling or needed to find God.
Thank you Bryan, you and your books are a true blessing from God. God bless
