Micaela B. – Thank you from Saudi Arabia

Mr. Davis,
Hello. My name is Micaela. I live in Saudi Arabia because my dad has a job here, but I am from Oklahoma. It is nice to be able to talk to you, the writer of my favorite books.

Your books are great. I can’t wait until Christmas, when I just know I am going to get the Oracles of Fire series. I have read all the DIOMs, and everything I ever wanted in a book and more is in each one of them. I’ve laughed and cried and been devastated and off my feet. I’ve flown with Bonnie and felt rejected with Billy. Once my shirt was wet with sweat, and many times have I had cold fingers and toes. In fact, these are the only books that I, truly, have never been able to put down. But to the point:

I am writing, or trying to write, a book, and would like some pointers and tips. Would you do that for me? You are a great writer, and I can’t think of anyone better to ask help from. It would be so wonderful. Thank you for writing such beautiful, enchanting books that have provided me with hours of excitement.

Your sister in Christ,
Micaela

Trey W. – Thank you from a football player

I wanted to thank you for writing your books. They help me relate to many thinks in life although they are fiction. Playing football and being twelve is tough, guys start maturing and become alert of the sin that’s in the world, they start pursing the sin and then start talking about it. Being a Christian I often feel like Billy and Bonnie, being different from everyone else. Especially when I’m the youngest kid on my team I’m twelve and they’re all freshmen, because of weight limits. I’m not fat but I’m not skinny. I play Nose Guard. A lot of times I’m picked on for my belief. Like Billy and Bonnie though I have to just shake it off and move on. Your books have helped me realize that. Thank you.

Thomas W. – Awesome books

Dear Mr. B Davis

I’m a huge fan of the dragons in our midst series and oracles of fire i have been reading them for the past 18 mounths and just got to the end of Oracles of fire it made me laugh cheer and cry it was one of the best reads ive ever read and after xs i think im going to have to read raising dragons again cause i forgotten the beginning ^^. Even though im not christian and i found the books by chance it made me reconsider everything i thought about dragons and god as i said awesome books your a great author. And even though you have probably been asked this question thousands of time is there a series or going to be a series following karen and charles and if there is whats the series called???

Sarah – Just a little girl with a passion for God, a dream to write, and a love for your books

Dear Mr Davis,
I am a great fan of your books all the way in a small town in Australia.
My sister first pointed your book out to me about two years ago, Raising Dragons when she found it in the town library and thought I might be interested. After all, how often do you find a good christian fiction book that is full of adventure and dragons? When I read it though, I found out it was much more. I soon found myself reading the rest of the Dragons In Our Midst seiries and scrabling to get my hands on the Oracles of Fire books too. They have now become by far the best books I have ever read. I’ve found that none of the other books I read are as good now that I’ve found greater.
I‘m not in the least interested in book that are all mushy with dodgy romance, but your books have captured true friendship with people who trust each-other with their lives and have taken it a step further by marriage. That, is something I can’t put to words. As a little kid, and even now, I’ve never really been interested in boys, but longed to live the Peter Pan life, where you never grow up to have feelings and boy friends or girl friends but have best friends that live their whole life having fun and going on adventures. I’ve been writing a book for over three years now with my cousin,(haven’t gotten real far since school takes a lot of time to get through and my cousin lives over 300 km away and when I write him letters, he scarcely replies) and my characters will be living a similar life. Five kids at around 13 will live a life that scientists would go mentally crazy trying to make sense of. Exploring islands in other worlds with creatures only God could put in my crazy head, going through places and situations that challenges the laws of science and common sense, and experiencing life threatening adventures, fighting for the All-Powerful One and anyone who ever dared to shine their light for Him. I hope to publish this book with the rest of it’s series and many more books one day when I’m older, knowing that nothings impossibly when I’m on God’s side.
I was a missionary kid until nearly four years ago when my family moved back to Australia. (my mum and dad are both Australian) For most of my life, I grew up in a little country in Europe called Romania. There, I saw my mum and dad with the help of other people build churches with people leading other people to Christ only two weeks after becoming a christian themselves. I thought it was normal until we moved here. Things are so different. Our old youth group excluded anyone who wasn’t already a christian. So much for ‘reaching out’. But as the Steven Curtis Chapman song goes, ‘We are not home yet…’ recently we’ve learn’t that we won’t be home until we’re in heaven and that we’re still on a mission field. It’s just a whole lot different. Now I know that as long as I follow where Jesus takes me in this life, and I live every moment for his glory, I can’t go wrong. Even if the whole world thinks otherwise.
But the real reason I wrote to you was to tell you how great your books are. They are AMAZING! God has truly given you a gift and you have used it to touch many hearts around the world to have a better understanding of him and his awesome love. It would be dangerous to hope to be even half as good as you, but with God, I ‘spose anything’s possible.
You’re probably way too busy, but if you have any advise for a young writer with a big dream to use every word I write to praise the Holy One, I would be honoured to receive an e-mail.
Like I said, your probably way to busy, so I won’t be upset if I don’t hear from you, but I just want you to know that your books have blessed me greatly and I hope that you make a hundred more books, as I would be more than happy to read them all over and over again.

Kenzie C. – Together we stand

Mr. Davis,

Before I read your books, I used to just go to church and Sunday school because my parents took me. Now, I’m the one begging my parents to take me.

In your book, Tears of a Dragon, Billy and Bonnie face many hardships. I do too. As I grow older, I can see peer pressure taking control of many of my “friends”.

Poof! Peer pressure.

Bam! Peer pressure.

Ping! Peer pressure.

You get the idea, it’s crazy! Soon there was a little group of friends. I have always felt left out from that group. It you hadn’t helped send God into my life, I can’t even picture…..it’s impossible for me to imagine…..where I would be right now, what I’d be doing, if I’d even be writing this!

I have never read a book that is so full of love, emotion, caring, and most important, the Lord. My life was so affected by your books, I know that if I am ever in a time of need, I can look to them. Now, I know that I can also look to God, so I am very thankful for your words and your books that lift me up and take me away into the clouds.

I used to just sing the words to songs because I had to. Now, I sing them with meaning, and truth. As the old saying goes: Together we stand, divided we fall! Together we stand with the lord, divided we fall without him. I was amazed that as soon as I committed my life to God I could see changes, little tiny differences. I could feel them too. The flashes of hope, love, kindness

As I continue down the path of Christ, I experience more of his love. So, thank you for bringing Christ, the Lord almighty, into my life forever. Amen!

Rebecca F. – Drawing me deeper

Mr. Davis,
I must say that reading your books is what hooked me onto reading. Going on the adventures with Billy, Bonnie and the gang really opened my mind up to reading as well as drawing me deeper into God’s arms. Right now I’m re-reading the books that got me though my last years in elementary school, and continued to do so until the day Bones of Makaidos arrived in my hands. (even re-reading the journey has me deeply inspired) Thank you so much for being God’s open vessel. Every time I think of how both Jared and Timothy died for their children it brings both my earthly and heavenly fathers to mind, because I know both care equally as much for me. I’ve shared tears with your stories and could go on for hours on how much your writing inspired me to use my own creativity. I’ll leave off with thank you, and God Bless

Rebecca

P.S. Your books are just too well written to be put down! And should you get the chance you should come to Alaska. (:

Elisabeth R. – Everything a book could have

I finished your book Masters and Slayers last night, and I absolutely loved it! Not only is it now one of my favorite books of all time, but I believe it is also the best book you have written so far! I love how it is mysterious, funny (especially Marcelle’s way of thinking, which had me laughing many times), suspenseful, and everything a book could have. I was especially on edge about the last 20 pages, wondering what in the world was going to happen! I also really loved Cassabrie’s Song. I played it on the piano, and it is so beautiful. Thank you for writing an amazing book once again that keeps me entertains and encourages my writing, which I hope one day will be published. Can’t wait for the next book!

Crosby B. – Shaped my life

I am a HUGE fan of the “Dragons in Our Midst” and “Oracles of Fire” series. I really enjoy the series the compel me to think about my relationship with the Holy Father, They make me gasp in awe at how powerful he is and merciful. At times I feel like Billy sometimes I feel like doubting and giving up, but there is always something that compels me to go farther and NEVER give into Satan. The series has made an impact on my life I see things in a perspective that can not be explained in text or speech. After I read the chapter in the second book from the “Dragons in Our Midst” series that shows the entry in Bonnie’s journal about Billy I realized how important it is to pray for people especially those you love and care deeply for because they make the biggest impression on you and your life. These books have really shaped my life in many ways.
Mr Davis I was wondering a little something. Are you gonna make movies of these books I think they would be AWESOME!!!! I would definitely watch them and suggest them to friends I think it would be BEAST if you did so. Imagining what Billy and Bonnie would look like is just so fascinating because it is fun to imagine what they could look like. It is fun Imagining the dragons in the movie big and strong, but gentle and kind it’s awesome. I sooooooooooooooooo hope you do make movies of them they would be worth watching ANYWHERE, ANYTIME I would enjoy them and I am quite positive thousands of other teens and pre-teens would too.
Thank you for taking time out of your most likely BUSY schedule to read this email I had fun typing this up for you to read. May the Lord God bless you and your writing forever.

Morgan H. – One of your biggest fans

Hello Mr.Davis,

My name is Morgan and I live in California.  I am fifteen years old.    I am also one of your biggest fans.   I have read Dragons in our Midst five times and now I am reading it to my brother, age eleven, for a sixth time.   We are on “The Candlestone” right now and my brother is thoroughly enjoying it.    He actually started to read on his own after starting “Raising Dragons”.    I have also read Oracles of Fire twice and I am anxiously awaiting the next series.   i just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the books that you write.    I am writing a book myself.   I don’t know if ti will ever be any good or if I will ever finish it, but I hope somehow God will use my writing to His will.    Thank you for your time.

Laura A. – A touching collection of books

I am a thirteen year old girl that reads way above average, (not to brag) and I’ve never emailed you before, but I’ve wanted to for a long time, so here I am. About a year ago, my friend lent me a book he’d been drooling over. He’d had many things to say about it, but the only thing that sunk in at first was that it was about dragons. I thought he’d gone insane.

Something I’ve learned about myself is that I tend to be practical at the most impractical moments. This was one of those times. But I bit my tongue for his sake, and decided to humor him and read the book. In short, that book was the Eye of the Oracle, and it took me less than three days to read it, get on the phone and BEG my friend to lend me the next book.

Such was the beginning of a long but profitable spiritual journey on my part. I relate to Bonnie the most, but I also quote Ashley, Walter, Billy, and all the other amazing characters quite a bit. Your books have inspired me to have faith in God and to battle the forces of evil.

Just last Sunday, my friend lent me I Know Why The Angels Dance. I was admittedly reluctant due to mental ties between you and Dragons In Our Midst, but I had learned my lesson to trust his judgement.

Now, two days later, all I can say is WHOA!!! Many of my own questions I had been pushing aside were answered, questions about the Christian walk, about struggles, about the agony of breaking addictions. Anyhow, I managed not to break down until Tabitha’s father told her mother that she had died. Then I couldn’t stop crying.

Now I’m okay with pain. If something’s going to hurt, it’ll hurt, and pretending everything’s fine will just make it worse. Thank you for writing such a touching collection of books.

You’ve also inspired my creative side. I love writing short stories, and for the first time, I’m trying to find a way to publish a story I believe God wants published. My Dad is also trying to find an agent to help the book become more widespread. Do you have any suggestions? Any advice? I’m all ears if you want to share!
Thank you so much once again. I’m looking foward to Warrior, too! And keep up the good work.
