Dear Mr Davis,
I am a great fan of your books all the way in a small town in Australia.
My sister first pointed your book out to me about two years ago, Raising Dragons when she found it in the town library and thought I might be interested. After all, how often do you find a good christian fiction book that is full of adventure and dragons? When I read it though, I found out it was much more. I soon found myself reading the rest of the Dragons In Our Midst seiries and scrabling to get my hands on the Oracles of Fire books too. They have now become by far the best books I have ever read. I’ve found that none of the other books I read are as good now that I’ve found greater.
I‘m not in the least interested in book that are all mushy with dodgy romance, but your books have captured true friendship with people who trust each-other with their lives and have taken it a step further by marriage. That, is something I can’t put to words. As a little kid, and even now, I’ve never really been interested in boys, but longed to live the Peter Pan life, where you never grow up to have feelings and boy friends or girl friends but have best friends that live their whole life having fun and going on adventures. I’ve been writing a book for over three years now with my cousin,(haven’t gotten real far since school takes a lot of time to get through and my cousin lives over 300 km away and when I write him letters, he scarcely replies) and my characters will be living a similar life. Five kids at around 13 will live a life that scientists would go mentally crazy trying to make sense of. Exploring islands in other worlds with creatures only God could put in my crazy head, going through places and situations that challenges the laws of science and common sense, and experiencing life threatening adventures, fighting for the All-Powerful One and anyone who ever dared to shine their light for Him. I hope to publish this book with the rest of it’s series and many more books one day when I’m older, knowing that nothings impossibly when I’m on God’s side.
I was a missionary kid until nearly four years ago when my family moved back to Australia. (my mum and dad are both Australian) For most of my life, I grew up in a little country in Europe called Romania. There, I saw my mum and dad with the help of other people build churches with people leading other people to Christ only two weeks after becoming a christian themselves. I thought it was normal until we moved here. Things are so different. Our old youth group excluded anyone who wasn’t already a christian. So much for ‘reaching out’. But as the Steven Curtis Chapman song goes, ‘We are not home yet…’ recently we’ve learn’t that we won’t be home until we’re in heaven and that we’re still on a mission field. It’s just a whole lot different. Now I know that as long as I follow where Jesus takes me in this life, and I live every moment for his glory, I can’t go wrong. Even if the whole world thinks otherwise.
But the real reason I wrote to you was to tell you how great your books are. They are AMAZING! God has truly given you a gift and you have used it to touch many hearts around the world to have a better understanding of him and his awesome love. It would be dangerous to hope to be even half as good as you, but with God, I ‘spose anything’s possible.
You’re probably way too busy, but if you have any advise for a young writer with a big dream to use every word I write to praise the Holy One, I would be honoured to receive an e-mail.
Like I said, your probably way to busy, so I won’t be upset if I don’t hear from you, but I just want you to know that your books have blessed me greatly and I hope that you make a hundred more books, as I would be more than happy to read them all over and over again.
