Sara C. – Thank you for your gift of words

Dear Bryan Davis
Eight years ago on my sixteenth birthday I was given a copy of you book “Raising Dragons”, I loved the book and I  sent you an e-mail letting you know how much I had enjoyed your book and how I could not wait to read the next one, You could have sent a short reply thanking me, but you didn’t , you had taken the time to reply, and every e-mail I sent you after that you answered.
I don’t know if I told you how much that meant to me, I didn’t have an outreach for youth where I lived and my churche’s Youth Minister was my mother, so you can tell why I did not enjoy Youth Group.
But your e-mails showed me the type of person I wanted to be, not just an author  but I leader, I went into Youth Ministry because you modeled the type of Christen I wanted to be.
Looking back, in my youth I was in danger of loosing a hard battle with depression and suicide, I didn’t think anyone would ever want to hear my questions and ideas, but the day I received your reply to my e-mail was a call back for me. I found the Christ I lost.
1 Peter 4:10-11
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”
Thank you for your gift of words
Yours in Fellowship

P.S. You once called the Carpenter Shop in New Minas, Nova Scotia ,to get a book in for me, Thank you, no one had ever done that for me.

Sarah M. – I love your books

Mr. Davis,

My name is Sarah , I’m thirteen years old and i love your books for teens and young adults immensely. My favorites are “Dragons in Our Midst” “Oracles of Fire” and “Children of the Bard” it is very hard in this day and age to find good christian books, most series you find have boyfriend/girlfriend situations in them and it is very annoying.

But, a few months ago i found “raising dragons” at a bookstore and i was immediately hooked! The characters in them made it possible for us to relate to, i think most girls strive to be like Bonnie Silver, faithful, courageous, and truly beautiful on the inside, but end up being more like Billy or Ashley, doubtful, fearful, and trying to rely on their strength alone.

Anyway, to get to the point, thank you ever so much for writing these wonderful books, i am very thankful that God gave you the talent, patience, and of course the original idea, you have encouraged many of my friends, my mother, who has read them as well, and me, as an aspiring writer, i would practically pull my hair out trying to come up with a good story line, then i read your books and realized, Gods ideas are a lot better than ours, so, i waited, and now my story fits, hopefully, a long time from now, it will touch the hearts and souls of many, as yours have done.

Sincerely,
Sarah M.

Dustin J. – Deep spiritual truths

Hello,

My name is Dustin. I’m 17 now and I was one of the teens who received an advanced copy of “the last of the nephilim” back when I was 13.

I was spending some time in prayer tonight and praying especially hard about the kind of man I want to become and I thought back to Nathan from Eternity’s Edge, and Billy from the Dragons series’. And I realized those were the types of characters I want to pattern myself after. You have a great ability to tell wonderful stories, and give deep spiritual truths. Your books have given a certain amount of life to my heart, because of the pulse of God I feel in them. Would you consider writing a book for young men just as you have done for fathers and husbands?

Much of the advice Nathan’s father gave him I have applied to my own life, as wells as other components from other books, and I believe you would write a very encouraging and challenging book for young knights in this world who aren’t sure how to become a man and warrior for the King.

Amanda W. – An Oracle of Fire

Hello Mr. Davis!

I would just like to begin by saying thank you. Thank you for being the Hands and Feet of God and using your words to create the stories you have written. They have given me the courage to face challenges, to accept who I am, and to seek God with everything I have.

Over the past few years, I have become more devoted to God than I have ever been before. I have surrounded myself with His words, written prayers in my journals, and have received one of the greatest blessings I have been given; my soul sister and guardian angel Brittni. Together, we have grown closer to God, and have created a bond of friendship that is both spiritual and physical. We have also gotten involved in a local Christian Youth Group and, wow, God has just been amazing. I can really see how He has been working in my life and am learning to trust in His plan for me.

As I was worshipping The Lord tonight, a thought resurfaced of becoming an Oracle of Fire. I’ve read your stories countless number of times and each time, a new message has been revealed to me. Mr. Davis, I want to give God my everything. I want to be able to say “God has purged me of all my sins and I am washed clean!” The story of Sapphira relates to me so much! I have felt lost for a countless number of years and have been searching and searching for that moment when I can dance with Elohim. At that moment, Sapphira became an Oracle of Fire.

Mr. Davis, will you please send some more information to me about becoming an Oracle of Fire and what it truly means? I am deciding now that God is calling me to do this. Please help me and pray for me with my walk with God. That the world will not extinguish the Light God shines through me.

Thank you again for everything you do. My relationship with my Savior has grown stronger and stronger because of what you are doing. You are an amazing inspiration. Please email me back. Thank you Mr. Davis

Dalton C. (Spoilers) – The best work of literature I have ever read

Dear Mr. Davis,

I loved your book The Bones of Makaidos; it really touched me. Your book made me think, how can one person go through so much pain and suffering and still have such a strong faith in God? The close relationship that Billy and Bonnie share with each other, Bonnie, Sapphira, and Acacia’s strong faith in God, and so many more things inspire me! Your book had a mix of action, adventure, tragedy, friendship, romance, and faith in the one God.

Your book made me sad, and left me wondering, Why did Acacia have to die? Why did any of the characters I love have to die? I knew that they had not really died because they were not real, but you’re deeply profound writing made me feel as if I had actually lost a member of my family! Your writing made it feel that real!

When the Dragon Slayer captured Bonnie I thought that she was done for, but her faith in God pulled through and He saved her. This made realize how real God is, and that he is always there for us, and if you have faith God will always pull through for you.

After all the events that happened in The Bones of Makaidos and when I finished the book, I  lay in my bed thinking about all the things that happened and that Billy and Bonnie finally got married after all of their struggles. I felt much closer to God than ever before. Every time I finished one of the books in the Dragons in our Midst series and the Oracles of Fire series I felt closer to God, but after reading The Bones of Makaidos I felt closer to God than in any of your other books. This book made me want to pray and ask God to forgive me of my sins, and I did. I did ask God for forgiveness.

Now that you have started the Children of the Bard series, Billy and Bonnies struggles begin anew, but this letter is about The Bones of Makaidos.

In this letter I have told you how you book has made me feel, and I want to thank you for writing this book and all of your other books. If you hadn’t, I would still be lost. Again, thank you for writing this book. This is the best work of literature I have ever read.

I hope you continue to write, and I am anxious to read your next book.

Memori C. – What a blessing you are

Mr. Davis, Happy New Year to you and your family! I want to take time and thank you for being such a blessing to our family – especially Cassidy. She has so much respect for you as a true follower of God and she appreciates your examples of godly living through your book characters as well as what you share of your personal life AND the almost daily encouragement you provide via scripture, comments and various postings on your fb page. (please pardon the run on sentence … I wonder when you read comments if you cringe when you notice poor writing)

If only more of the masses would look up to people like you rather than professional athletes, actors and politicians this world would be such a better place!!!

As a parent, I realize what a blessing you are and just want to say THANK YOU!

Georgia Reader – Aided me in my spiritual life

Hello Mr. Davis. I am an 18 yr old from Georgia. I first discovered your books 5 years ago when I read Raising Dragons. I read the whole Dragons in our Midst series and then went on to read the Oracles of Fire series. Those books have changed my life in so many ways! I started to read the Bible more and my spiritual life grew stronger. Now I am in my Senior year of high school and our big year project is to write a novel. As I have been writing my novel, I have been reading your books again to try and somewhat duplicate your writing style. I have turned in half of my novel and I have been told by many that I have one of the best 1st drafts of my class. I thank you for writing your books which have not only aided me in my spiritual life but now in my school life as well.

Jenna K. – On fire for God

Hi Mr. Davis,

I have already written to you, but I just reread the Dragons in our Midst series and there are some things that cannot be left unsaid.  A while ago, I started writing down  quotes from books that really stood out to me, and it’s crazy how many of them are from your books.  One of my favorites is probably the most simple one of all – in the beginning of Raising Dragons, Bonnie thinks “Well, I don’t care what they think.  I’m going over there.”
This quote has helped me to be confident in myself and not to care what other people think of me.  As long as I am doing what God wants me to do, nothing else matters.  You have an amazing gift with words, and your books have taught me so much about what it means to be on fire for God.

Tori C. – Here I Am

My name is Tori , and hopefully I don’t take up too much of your time. “Dragons in Our Midst” was a birthday present some seven or eight years ago, and I’ve loved your books ever since. It took longer for me to love the Book they pointed to, and longer still to give my life to the One that that Book points to. Still, the Lord seems to delight in pouring His mercy on the blind and stubborn-hearted, so here I am, at long last: nineteen, and a Christian, at Yale University, watching God work miracles and He grows more and more servants out of one of the most historically anti-God campuses in the country. All praise be to Him!

Recently, a friend of mine (who is taking a gap year to be a missionary in his home country of Kenya), told me of his younger Christian friend’s struggle. His family is a company of literal witch doctors, dealing with dark spirits, and he, as a believer, has been threatened with death and demonic retribution. When my friend asked for advice, I recalled words read many years ago: “Sing, child! Sing! For psalms and hymns are your leather and mail!” The poor young man has been greatly encouraged- he actually wants to be a Gospel singer when he grows up- so thank you for being a part of helping him.

Thank you for your time, sir. God bless you and your family this Christmas season.

Sincerely,
Tori C.

Riley W. – Drew me into the story

I’m an 18 year old freshman in collage and I’ve just finished reading your book series, “Dragons in our Midst”. After finishing them, I just felt that I needed to thank you personally for writing them. I am a lover of fantasy stories and a rather big fan of dragons, which is how I first found your novels.

When I discovered that you were a Christian author, that made me very excited to read the first book in the series. Also, your dragons were not portrayed as vile, evil creatures, but rather noble and loyal. Your writing drew me into the story, and how you showed God’s love throughout the series of books was absolutely amazing. Not only did you help reaffirm my own beliefs, but I have also grown even closer to God.

Thank you so much for letting God work through you and your writing. As I write this email, I find myself wishing that I could better explain myself and how I’m feeling! I hope you don’t mind me sending a personal email like this, but I felt like I needed to say something!
