Angela B. – God-given talent

I am a homeschool mom of 5 children ages 6-14.  I just wanted to write you to tell you a little story that I think you may appreciate.  My daughter Briana (age 14) is your biggest fan!  She has read both of your series, Dragons in Our Midst and, the Oracles of Fire (very quickly I may add). Briana has gotten all of her friends hooked on both series as well as her 11 year old brother.

She has been UNpatiently  waiting for your Bones  book for what seems like forever.  We had heard (I’m not sure by who, or where) that It was to be out by Feb.  09, so of course, whenever we were in the area of the Christian book store (Florence, KY), we would take a peek to see if it was there.  Eventually, someone there told us, not feb. but by the end of March it would be in.  It was nearing the end of March when we stopped in again.  This time when we asked for your book, the nice young man that was helping me said “The author of that book is coming in for a book signing sometime soon.  Would you like me to go check when that will be happening?”

Well, my daughter, who is the quietest little thing ever, just about went crazy at the thought of meeting you and getting her books signed by you.  The thing that makes this story so interesting is that in November, my daughter was in a piano recital, and for the pamphlet that told a little bit about each pianist, the children had to answer the question “ If you could have anybody in the whole world over for Christmas, who would it be?”  When all the other children answered, the president, famous movie stars, kings and queens, Briana’s response was, “Bryan Davis, the author of my favorite books.”  Now, the sad part of the story.  When the young man returned from checking out when you’d be in the store, he said, “you’re going to hate me!!! ( He said this do to our over –the- top excitement he experienced when he told us you were coming)  Mr. Davis was just here last Wed. …You hate me don’t you!”   You were there just 4 days earlier!!!  Well, My daughter and I left the bookstore without your book – it hadn’t come in yet- and devastated at the thought of missing you by only 4 days.

I just thought that you may like to know just how much you are thought of by this young reader.  I know that if someone mentioned my name as the one person that they wanted to meet more than anything, I would be thrilled.  Keep the books coming and, anytime that you are in the Northern Kentucky area, please e-mail me if at all possible.  We will keep checking with our local bookstore and on your website also.  I hope this letter uplift you and  keep you using your God-given talent to reach out to people of all ages.
