I am now working on the second book in the Reapers Trilogy. The tentative title is Beyond the Gateway. At some point, I will be posting story development updates on Tuesdays, much like I have with The Scent of Her Soul.
Since this is the second book in the series, it will be hard to understand the story development unless you have read the first book. So, for those who have not read it and want to get up to speed, I am offering book #1, Reapers, for only $5.00 plus shipping. That’s more than 50% off the $11.99 retail price. I will also autograph the book if you wish.
I’m not sure how long the sale will last, so you might want to get your order in soon. Click here to order.
Now for a brief excerpt, a proposed beginning of book #2 (subject to change):
Ghosts rarely shocked people anymore, especially Reapers. We were accustomed to seeing the souls of the dead. We carried them in our cloaks, conversed with them, comforted them, and, at times, even scolded them. Nothing surprised us. Yet, when a phantom image of Singapore hovered over my hand as I clutched her photo stick, my heart pounded. She was just a hologram, not even a ghost, but she still haunted me far more than any ghost ever could.
If you have any questions or comments, please post them.

I highly recommend it, this is a great book.
Thank you. I added a bit to this post. You might want to check it out.
That is an awesome proposed beginning for book 2, and it already has my mouth watering, just ready for more.
😫 Why, Sing? Why??
How exciting! I’ve greatly anticipated the second book. The first was so gripping, I can’t wait to see the story continue.
Absolutely love the excerpt! It reminds me of how much I enjoyed the first book.
I’ll keep you in my prayers, Mr. Davis, as you put this story together.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
On a different note:
Mr. Davis, why were the covers of the “Echoes of the Edge” Series and the “Dragons of Starlight” Series changed/updated? I think their original covers were fine. Was it your decision, or was it the publisher’s, or someone else entirely? Just curious.
That was the publisher’s decision. When I asked them for a reason, they said they like to keep the books fresh. I’m not sure what that means.
Maybe it means they want to keep the books catching people’s attention, so they changed them to make them more eye catching or “appealing”.
I still prefer the originals.
So, say we want an autograph saying something encouraging. Would your signature be included in the 50 characters? Does that make sense?
The 50 characters do not include my name. You can also email me to request something longer.
Ok, thanks!
SING! Gah!
