sniffles I can hardly believe the series is really coming to an end . . . but this first chapter assures me that it will be a worthy one. And I now have a touch of hope for one of my favorite characters from TSD . . . time will tell if I’m correct or not.
Why did I sink to reading this now?! It’s not even mid February yet!! I liked Merlin’s answer (though I had already read that) but I don’t like some of those chapter titles, or some of that conversation between Merlin and Prof. They’re making me nervous.
Me too! I went to full on nail-biting during that conversation…
Hello Mr. Davis,
This is a completely unrelated question so I hope you don’t mind.
My mom got your book ‘Spit and Polish for Husbands’ for my dad; he read it.
He said men like that are ‘Yes men’ (husbands that say only yes to their wives).
I haven’t read the book or anything, but if its about being the type of men that are in your books then I think they are Godly men.
Are men like that yes men? Or are they truly how God made Man to be?
Thank you for your time.
No, I’m afraid he has misinterpreted my intent. The idea is not to always say yes. It is to give honor our wives as treasured vessels, blessings from God. Of course we would not say yes if our wives suggested something wrong or untrue.
The book’s purpose is to exhort men to be godly by showing the love of Christ to our wives.
Sort of unrelated, but still related. I was recently given Stephen Mansfield’s “Manly Book of Manly Men” and I absolutely love it. It’s like it was marinated in truth. Have you read? I absolutely recommend it.
Thank you for the tip. I have not read it.
I can’t believe it has come to an end! I’ve grown up with these books and it’s bittersweet. Thank you so much for this series! They have been challenging and very though provoking.
Out of curiosity, as for the touch ups on the cover, will the characters [mainly the white dragon] be touched up any? The face of the white dragon looks a tad different from the red one [actually, that would make sense, since they aren’t the same dragon] and it looks a little scarier. I didn’t know if there would be a tweak made to that character was all.
I haven’t read beyond ‘Song Of The Ovulum’, so I don’t know if there’s something I haven’t read yet that explains that, but I was just curious.
The white dragon is supposed to look different because of his origin. Bonnie will be altered a bit.
Okay. Thanks, Mr. Davis!
I personally like the white dragon best. 🙂 And that’s good about Bonnie being altered–she looks a bit young for her age (unless something happens in the book to change that).
And I agree with Rex: some of those chapter titles are very worrisome!
Bonnie does look young for her age. That won’t change. It’s an anthrozil thing.
Ah, okay, that does make sense. Thanks. 🙂

Can’t wait to read!
Okay. I’m dead now. I won’t revive until the book release. Hopefully I won’t rot by then.
This is amazing. Really. It’s making me nervous as ever. But it also has me beyond excited to read what this final book (cries) has in store. This is my favorite series of all time ~ it’s going to be hard to see it end. And yet, I look forward to seeing everything come together perfectly in the end. I expect nothing less than amazing.
Yet I will still cry my eyes out. Because I do that with every one of the DIOM world books. =p
Wow. I can’t wait for the book. I started reading these books a few years ago and have re-read them millions of times. Just reading this makes me wonder. One question. Who’s Jade? I can’t remember if she has been introduced already, or if she is a new person. However, I’m really really sad that the series is coming to an end. All I can say is, with no more books I’ll be able to memorize the series (not word for word). Again, so excited. I loved this excerpt.
Jade was introduced in The Seventh Door.
